Lap pools
Fitness at your back door
A lap pool turns your backyard into a place for fitness, and for making it part of your daily routine. Having a lap pool at home removes the barriers of travel, opening hours and shared lanes.
Lap pools are long and narrow by design, which means they can suit blocks where a wider pool would not fit. They can run along a boundary, follow the length of the house or sit within a defined corridor of the yard, leaving the rest of the space free for lawn, gardens and entertaining.
Why homeowners choose lap pools
A genuine training space. Length matters, and a purpose-designed lap pool allows proper laps rather than a few strokes and a turn. Swim-current systems can also be added to extend a shorter pool's training capability.
Low-impact exercise for all ages. Swimming and water-based conditioning are well suited to rehabilitation, general fitness and healthy ageing.
Fits more yards than you'd expect. Because lap pools are narrow, they can often run along a side boundary or the length of a rear yard, preserving space for the rest of the garden. With the right design and planning, it is often more achievable, in both space and budget, than homeowners first assume.
Can be incorporated into a family pool or spa combo. If you would like a lap pool can also be added to a bathing section or have a spa added to the side to give a full health experience. As per the lap pools we have built below.
What to know: Overall length, depth, water temperature and heating, and where you'd like to exit the pool all shape a good lap pool design. Gas or heat pump heating extend the swimming season whilst adding a pool cover will reduce the running cost of heating outside the season.
Best suited to: fitness-focused households, long and / or narrow yards, and anyone who wants their pool used daily, not just on weekends.
